Samoan language week

This week was Samoan Language Week. In Room 6 we learnt a lot about Samoa and the Samoan culture. We watched Cultural Hub clips about the Samoan alphabet, animals and body parts. Did you know that the Samoan alphabet has only 17 letters?
We did a hunt on facts about Samoa, we then searched the classroom for clues to complete our Samoan puzzle. We had experts teaching us greetings and phrases, our experts were Matila, Remy and Rosa.

Every Thursday Room 6 have been learning about area and how to measure small and LARGE areas.
This week we measured the classroom. We got in to groups of three or four and tried to figure out how big the area was. The most popular suggestion was to horizontally measure the classroom and then to vertically measure the classroom. After we got the two measurements we multiplied them.

In week 2 term 2 science in a van came to visit us. They taught us about the elements on the periodic table and balance. We did some experiments with carbon dioxide or CO2. We did an experiment of how carbon dioxide turns from a solid to a gas.  Here are some pictures:

We have been learning about the water cycle in class. This week we have been doing some experiments to do with condensation, evaporation, precipitation and air pressure. My favorite part was when someone from our class pushed a full balloon under water and we saw the water bubble over the edge. Here is a picture:

This term we are learning about baptism and the Holy Spirit. We have made pyramids on the three gifts you get from the holy spirit when you are baptized, Faith hope and love. we have faith in God, we have hope in God's goodness and we love one another. Here is a picture of my triangle:
